We are a very friendly group who meet every Thursday (in term time).
Club starts at 1 pm and ends at 4 pm. Fees are very reasonable and include a cup of tea or coffee during the class, and very often somebody has brought a home-made cake as well.
We cover machine knitting, hand knitting, crochet, card making and if there's any other craft you're interested in, mention it and we'll see what we can do!
The meetings are relaxed and companionable. We share problems and experiences, helping one another out whenever we can, and it's surprising how much we achieve with each other's help.
Our teacher, Sylvia Cooper, has been machine knitting for over 50 years, and teaching it for over 40 years. She has experience of many different makes of knitting machine, including Jones/Brother, Passap, Empisal/Knitmaster/Silver Reed, and Toyota. Sometimes it's possible to feel isolated when machine knitting, or that nobody else could possibly make the same mistakes. But at the club we discover that we have all made the same mistakes, or had the same problems, and it's such a relief, such a good feeling, to have such wonderful support, and to be able to share in so many years' experience.
Several of our members also enjoy crafts - card making in particular, and some fabulous work is produced. Pergamano, decoupage, sewing cards, Cuttlebugs, you name it, we have tried it.
